Nueva Liga Infantil en Ensenada

Los lideres de la Nueva Liga Femeninana Baja Softball de Ensenada se reunieron la semana pasada para finalizar detalles sobre la Nueva Liga de Desarollo Communinatios, la cual empezara sus juegos de invierno en Septiembre 20 y continuaran hasta Diciembre 7. Bajo esta liga habra dos divisiones, Ensenenada y El Sauzal. Al participar hambas communidades en esta nueva liga combinada habra mas jugadoras, mas entrenadores, y mas lideres de manera que, tendremos mas personas collaborando para lograr formar la liga mas grande, destacada y mejor de Baja.

El director de la liga, Charles Tawil dijo, "podemos lograr esta realista y fabulosa meta reclutando, promoviendo y asegurandonos de que nuestro desempeno en el campo de softball sea divertido para todas las jugadoras, sus padres, y todos los collobarodes".

New Ensenada Girls Softball League

The leaders of the new Ensenada Girls Softball League met this past week to put the final touches on the new Community Development League that starts it’s winter league play Sept 20th and goes until Dec. 7th. Under the League umbrella, there will be two divisions; Ensenada and El Sauzal. With both communities participating in the new combined league, there will be more players, coaches, and leaders involved in the league as it makes it’s move to be the biggest, brightest, and best league in Baja.

“Our goal is 300 players in our league by 2010” quips league Director Charles Tawil. “We can accomplish this bright and realistic goal by recruiting, promoting, and insuring that our on the field performance is fun for the player, parents, and all involved”.

Currently, the league has 110 players signed up in 3 categories; 8 and Under, 10 and Under, and 12 and Under. Each category will field 4 teams that will play each week on Saturdays at the El Sauzal Sports Park. They will play 12 league games during the winter season with playoffs at the end deciding a champion.

BEIJING - At the Olympic Games, there weren't a lot of tears, at least on the field for USA Softball as they lost to Japan in the Gold Medal Game giving Softball it's biggest upset in the history of the sport. Those would have to come later, when the realization that it really is all over finally sinks in. In their place were hugs, even a few forced smiles.

At home plate there were five sets of softball cleats, left there by USA Softball players who will now be moving on. A new generation will replace them on the U.S. national team, just like they had taken the place of others who went before.

For U.S.A. slugger Crystl Bustos and four others there wasn't any question it was over. The medals may not have been the color they came for, but they wore them knowing that they would be their last.

¡Veronica Fonseca, una joven pitcher de Ensenada quien ilumina los campos de Ensenada con fuego! Ella llama mucho la atención jugando en los torneos del estado. Algunos la llaman la mejores pitcher si no una de las mejores jugadoras en su grupo de edad en todo Baja.

Veronica en la Nueva Liga del Softbol Juventud de Ensenada para el Club de Chispitas. Ella es Pitcher y pone el temor en los corazones de sus oponentes cada vez que toma el Picheo.

INTERVIEW: Meet Veronica Fonseca, the Future of Softball in Baja California

Veronica Fonseca, a young pitcher from Ensenada is lighting up the fields of Ensenada with heat and fire! She is turnng heads as she now branches out to play in tournament ball around the state. Some are calling her one of the best pitchers if not one of the best players in her age group in all of Baja.

Veronica pitches in the New Ensenada Youth Softball League for the Chispitas. She plays pitcher and puts fear in the hearts of opposing batters every time she takes the mound.

“Her control, speed, and demeanor are second to none” says Ensenada Youth League Director of Sponsorship and Public Relations Lonnie Ryan. “What makes her even more dangerous is her great winning attitude, first class energy, and excellent athletic ability not to mention her all around play from base running, batting, and game knowledge. This kid is an All-Star all the way and the future of Baja Softball is great with Veronica there leading the way”

"Every time we face the Chispitas, we simply have to ask our batters to get in there, do their best, and pray to the softball gods to just give us one chance to hit her heat" says Coach Marcos Cisneros of the El Sauzal Uvitas. "She's a real dominating pitcher and as of now, we still have NO answer for her pitches"

Surprise, there is a 9 year old gringita that plays in our new Ensenada Girls Softball Fastpitch League named Maya Burns. She has lived here in Baja since she was 4 years old. She is super amazing!

Not only can she bat the ball like Lisa Fernandez, but she can belt out the ranchero mariachi music Linda Ronstadt style. Yeah, without accompaniment too…perfect tone, volume, pace and presence. Amazing!

Maya Burns is a 9 year old gringita that sings ranchero mariachi music Linda Ronstadt style. She loves to sing and has had no formal training. She has lived in Baja since she was 4 years old and has also been singing since that tender age. Maya started playing piano at 18 months and could rap out a mean “twinkle, twinkle little star”. She started performing Spanish songs at 4 singing the song “Cielito Lindo” which her parents had on a computer disc of songs of world languages. At that age she made friends by sharing the free candy she was given after singing for her amazed adult admirers. When she was 3 she looked at her startled parents and said, “books will be written about me”. She hopes to sing someday with anyone of her three favorite Divas; Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt or Debbie Reynolds.

No solamente batea como Lisa Fernandez, tambien canta como Linda Ronstadt. I si, sin instrumentos. Perfecto tono, volumen , y presensia!

For members of the U.S. softball team, the euphoria of winning Olympic gold in Athens promised to linger long after the summer of 2004.

But the players' high-flying spirits were brought crashing down in 2005 by a blindsiding decision from the International Olympic Committee, which voted softball and baseball off the program for London's 2012 Games.

"It was heartbreaking," pitcher Jennie Finch said. "At one point, we were celebrating how far we've come in our sport, and where it is going. It's never been this popular. And then, all of a sudden, we're out of the 2012 Games. It was a blow to the heart. Kind of feels like we got punched in the stomach, like we were stabbed in the back."

What seems to bother players most is the lack of a definitive explanation given by the IOC for its decision. Several "theories" have been floated publicly since the vote, and none of them sit well.

Sinaloa respondió a la hora buena con el madero. El ataque de la escuadra sinaloense explotó en la primera entrada, cuando consiguió adelantarse por pizarra de 5-0.

Se embasó Micaela Mendívil con bola ocupada, luego Elisa Carrillo entró en circulación con base por bolas. Olga Arévalo hizo de las suyas al impulsar la primera carrera. Posteriormente se acentuó el ataque de Sinaloa marcando Elisa Carrillo la segunda, luego Olga Arévalo, Martha Lizárraga y Rosario Salazar hizo derrumbarse a la serpentina de la cachanilla de Ensenada, Ana Soto, quien solamente le lanzó a seis bateadores, le anotaron tres carreras, dejó dos corredoras de herencia y sacó únicamente un out. Fue relevada por Graciela Vega, quien apagó el fuego.
